ST MARYS GIRLS PATHWAY IS A SUCCESS

At the Start of June saw the first ever St Marys Senior Ladies team make their debut. In blistering warm weather the ladies got off to a perfect start with an early well taken goal from Ellie Magill, St Marys Ladies dominated the first half taking a well deserved 4-0 lead with 2 Goals from Ellie and Ruby with 2. On the stroke of half time North Belfast Ladies got a goal back against the run of play.
St Marys Ladies struggled to get started in the second half loosing another two goals to make the score 4-3, but St Marys Ladies found their composure again and took control of the game with a goal from Morgan. As the game progressed the ladies started to spray the ball about again and a goal came from our captain on the night and our founder Lauren Moore with a thunderous effort from outside the box to make the final score 6-3 to St Marys Ladies.

A fantastic performance from all the ladies and two incredibly proud coaches. The founder of this setup was Lauren Moore who has a great pathway for girls/women in the sport. The girls section started in 2005 with all the teams coming through first kicks a great foundation phase for kids that is still in place to this day for the boys and girls. This has progressed from 2005 to where St Marys are now, which is making history and fielding their very first senior ladies team. This pathway has been a success and this is the proof.
The girls setup will keep producing teams each year with its structure in place, with its clear pathway and an end goal, the overall process has been a success.

Well done to all involved and a special shout out to Lauren Moore and Brendan Magill. They do a fantastic job to keep producing teams and coaches each year and giving girls a opportunity to play from age four to senior level.
We also like to give a special thanks to Our Sponsors for the Ladies team Café Cuisine Ltd. These businesses support local community groups like ourselves, just remember to always shop local.
